What is "RIT spray dye"? And
can I come to work for you in your basement in Alaska when I graduate?
Dear Tara, First of all I want to say that your creations are brilliant!
I can really relate to many of your designs for I too dabble in hand made, one off pieces
of art textiles. Presently I am in my second year of a degree in Literature but I
absolutely love experimenting and creating different works of art with fabric and fabric
paints. I have recently started producing some of my designs for a small theatre
production that I and some friends are in the process of organizing. I would appreciate
some info about where I can purchase the Rit spray dye which sounds like real fun to play
around with. I would also be very interested in doing some work experience in the basement
of the UAF Fine Arts complex, seeing as my graduation date is drawing closer I am
beginning to think about what I would enjoy doing when I finish my degree. Your work,
while requiring high energy levels and commitment sounds very rewarding and a lot of fun.
Please get in touch if you would like an enthusiastic, creative helper! Thanks for an
exciting surf, Natasha
I have lots of stuff to write you but right now I'm doing 12-14hr days
on The Bacchae, plus teaching and Faculty Senate. I will write to you ASAP, but it's 2am
now and my brain is mush. Tomorrow will be even worse for time, so bear with me a few
days.---Tara
Oh, yeah. And Rit spray dye is just plain old Rit powdered dye mixed
into a solution with hot water. If you don't get Rit in the UK, don't think its something
special. It is just plain old packaged powdered vegetable dye like you would buy in a
drugstore or Woolworth's. --- Tara
Sorry to make you keep waiting, but as you may see from the time of this
transmission, I'm kind of working my tail off. The Bacchae is fun, but time-consuming, and
this week my computer keeps acting up besides. I should warn you now that UAF's theatre
Dept, doesn't have a graduate program, only a BFA. However, we are actually as fun as my
on-web hype implies. If you can think of lots of specific fiddly questions you'd like to
ask, send them on to me, and I can probably do a faster reply to specifics than to a sort
of general question like your last one. General questions require broad general answers
that eat time. I, mean when you say you want to come to help, I'm unsure about if you are
looking for a job, a grad program or a whacked volunteer activity. Trying to answer the
question all three ways, will take time. So if you can get more specific, I can get you
the answer faster than next weekend. Help I need, money I have little, weird fun stuff to
do here I have more than anyone could desire. I'll write more when I'm more awake and less
busy.---Tara
