THE MANIFESTO IS MUTATING!  IT IS TURNING INTO A WIKI THAT CAN BECOME THE HIVE MIND OF ALL COSTUMERS, FINALLY LIVING UP TO IT'S SLOGAN: "COSTUMERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!" YOU CAN HELP IN THIS PROCESS BY MOVING PAGES TO THE NEW SITE AT THECOSTUMERSMANIFESTO.COM, HELPING TO EDIT THE PAGES THAT ARE THERE ALREADY, AND ADDING YOUR OWN ORIGINAL INPUT.

Simple Foam Headpiece (5C)

OK, this one is so incredibly simple and stupid you will smack yourself for not having thought of it before:

The Project:

Get a piece of 2" thick foam the size used to stuff pillows.

Draw an outline of the shape you want the headdress to be on the foam like this:

Google

Then draw a face hole near the bottom of the design, like this:

Be sure to keep your design very simple, and the face hole near the bottom.

Cut the design out (electric carving knives, like those used to cut Xmas turkeys, are great for doing this by the way).  Trim the face hole till it fits your performer.

Cover the foam with fabric, or paint it, as you prefer.

When it is finished, photograph the headdress as jpeg files and post them to your File folder at the class eGroup.  Post a message to the group letting everyone know you have posted these pictures so you can get feedback.
