Free photo/paint program that helps you make still JPEG's, GIF's and other image files.
This program includes lots of free backgrounds and royalty-free images that can take up a
lot of hard drive, but it's emphasis is on making web graphics, which makes it perfect for
web use. This is similar in quality to programs like Photoshop and Corel Draw that cost
hundreds of dollars, so it's a good idea to download it before Microsoft upgrades it and
decides to start charging for it!
Yahoo to Go
You can get a free search engine, or stock ticker, or local weather "window"
from Yahoo to Go, which will allow you to copy a little code into your page that
lets people do searches, or see information right from your site.
GIF Wizard Direct
From this site you can get a code that puts a window for the GIF Wizard Online GIF
File Reducer into your page. This will let your viewers reduce the size of GIF files,
on which they are working, right from your page, without having to exit your site.
The Weather Channel - Home Page will make you a custom-designed weather page to link to. You can get weather maps and reports for the areas that affect your student's projects--like if the weather will be clear at night for telescope observation, or whether your stadium will have rain or heat for the upcoming game.
GetReminded.com will let you set up mailing lists for website newsletters. Users of your site can subscribe or unsubscribe to your mailing list with a single button click, and you can send updates to subscribers automatically, instead of individually. Setting this up takes about 10 minutes.
This site will also let you set up a reminder list so that your students can sign up to get automatic reminders of upcoming due dates and tests.
