The Costumer's Manifesto is written by Tara Maginnis, and proudly hosted by William Baker.

THE MANIFESTO IS MUTATING!  IT IS TURNING INTO A WIKI THAT CAN BECOME THE HIVE MIND OF ALL COSTUMERS, FINALLY LIVING UP TO IT'S SLOGAN: "COSTUMERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!" YOU CAN HELP IN THIS PROCESS BY MOVING PAGES TO THE NEW SITE AT THECOSTUMERSMANIFESTO.COM, HELPING TO EDIT THE PAGES THAT ARE THERE ALREADY, AND ADDING YOUR OWN ORIGINAL INPUT.

Menswear of the Turn of the Century (c. 1900)

These images I collected in Washington, D.C. around 1985-7 while working on a project at the University of Georgia.  They are all based on Xeroxes and photos I took of copyright expired works in the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian.   Their poor image quality is based on the poor copy machines available at the time in those institutions.  The originals in these archives are mostly in spectacularly good condition.  I highly recommend that some webified costumer in the DC area take the time to digitize these rare works directly on a scanner.  In particular the rich colored ads in the Men's magazines need wider circulation.
