THE MANIFESTO IS MUTATING!  IT IS TURNING INTO A WIKI THAT CAN BECOME THE HIVE MIND OF ALL COSTUMERS, FINALLY LIVING UP TO IT'S SLOGAN: "COSTUMERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!" YOU CAN HELP IN THIS PROCESS BY MOVING PAGES TO THE NEW SITE AT THECOSTUMERSMANIFESTO.COM, HELPING TO EDIT THE PAGES THAT ARE THERE ALREADY, AND ADDING YOUR OWN ORIGINAL INPUT.

"These plates are from Rudolph Ackermann's Repository of Arts, a periodical which he published from 1809-1827, and which featured, among many other subjects, costume plates such as these. The costume plates were also issued in yearly collections--sort of a fashion annual. The present plates came from such a gathering, entitled ACKERMANN'S LADIES' FASHION PLATES: 110 Coloured Costumes including Mourning, Walking, Carriage, Evening, Opera, and Ball Dresses--all from the 1822 issues of the Repository of the Arts. " ----Mead Cain, Printseller
