  • To all Panicked Parents:  Please do not assume because a few folks regard Anime (Japanese Animation) and/or Cosplay (costume role playing games) as a sex fetish, that because your HS kid has come home with some sexy Japanese comic books or violent video games he/she is on the road to getting an STD before he/she gets a diploma.  As a college professor, in my experience, Anime & Cosplay kids are geeks, who may go most of the way through college before getting a date.  If your child spends all his/her time hanging with geeks at the comic shop and you are still worried, just agree to let your house play host to RPG and LAN parties where you can keep an eye on what goes on--geek activities.  Remember some folks think of kitchen utensils as sex toys, that does not make Betty Crocker a closet dominatrix, nor 4-H cooking classes dens of secret vice.
