The Costumer's Manifesto is written by Tara Maginnis, and proudly hosted by William Baker.

THE MANIFESTO IS MUTATING!  IT IS TURNING INTO A WIKI THAT CAN BECOME THE HIVE MIND OF ALL COSTUMERS, FINALLY LIVING UP TO IT'S SLOGAN: "COSTUMERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!" YOU CAN HELP IN THIS PROCESS BY MOVING PAGES TO THE NEW SITE AT THECOSTUMERSMANIFESTO.COM, HELPING TO EDIT THE PAGES THAT ARE THERE ALREADY, AND ADDING YOUR OWN ORIGINAL INPUT.

This poem I wrote about a student who came with us to Russia and who was one of those who inspires teachers (and anyone else around them) to dare, and do more, and be more, by the force of his good and heartfelt example

Comrade

To you

for being

the one

who minded

that the

red stars

were no longer

lit

who knew

at once

it meant

that we

were all

food

for worms

and only

the moment

counted

To you

for staying

when everyone else

had gone

and for knowing

and going

when it was

time

to move on

for having

fun

in a world

of despair

and confusion

for loving

the city

for what it was

not what

you wanted it to be

To you

for keeping

hope

in the future

when the past

had past

and for

remembering

the good

of the past

better

than

the ill

for writing

and loving

and talking

(endlessly)

I salute you

Tara Maginnis, 8/27/93
