THE MANIFESTO IS MUTATING!  IT IS TURNING INTO A WIKI THAT CAN BECOME THE HIVE MIND OF ALL COSTUMERS, FINALLY LIVING UP TO IT'S SLOGAN: "COSTUMERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!" YOU CAN HELP IN THIS PROCESS BY MOVING PAGES TO THE NEW SITE AT THECOSTUMERSMANIFESTO.COM, HELPING TO EDIT THE PAGES THAT ARE THERE ALREADY, AND ADDING YOUR OWN ORIGINAL INPUT.

2002 UK Trek with the meeting of Manifesto Fans

I (Tara Maginnis) and my shop head-sidekick Lorraine Pettit have just returned from our trip to The UK and other locations (San Francisco and Las Vegas).  During our trip we met up with a bunch of folks who have heard of us through the Manifesto and did assorted activities with them.  Here we will share our trip photos and some of what we learned and saw.

San Francisco at the Native Daughters of the Golden West Costume Collection

I (Tara) was asked by my aunt, a Native Daughter, to view a dress that had been recently donated to their collection, as well as the general costume collection display, so she could pick my brain on the topic that would take up a future meeting.  I'll be posting my report on the topic on this page as soon as I've dealt with more pressing matters of my return.

I also used these photos to test the relative merits of my new Minolta Dimage X camera vs. My Dad's new Canon Power Shot S30.  I took these photos in low light (also a few with a flash) and at both cameras lowest quality settings.  Here are the Canon Power Shot Photos:

Here are the Minolta Dimage X photos.  The Dimage X has a very hard time focusing in low light, and so after this test I took up my Dad's offer to borrow his camera for the UK part of my trip, since mainly I'd be taking photos in museums where a flash is unsuitable.  The Minolta Dimage X however is far superior in flash shots, the Canon usually washes out and/or discolors in flash shots, whereas the Minolta's flash shots look like natural lighting (see Las Vegas Photos for Examples) The Diamage X is also the smallest & lightest high resolution digital camera with optical  zoom-about the size of a pack of cigarettes, so it is great for carting around during vacations.
